Day 01: Chennai Arrival
Chennai is the starting point for Explore South India Tour. Welcome on arrival at the airport by our representative who transfers you to the hotel. After lunch, leave for a city sightseeing tour including Fort St. George and St. Mary’s Church. Night stay at hotel.
Day 02: Chennai - Mysore
Explore South India Tour today proceeds to Mysore. Check out from hotel early in the morning and drive to Chennai Railway Station to board onward train to Mysore that is a must visit in every tour to South India. Upon arrival in the afternoon, check in to hotel. Leave for a post-lunch sightseeing tour of the majestic Maharaja Palace, Chamundi Hill, the huge monolith of Nandi Bull and Mahishasura Statue. Retire to the hotel for the night.
Day 03: Mysore
After breakfast, leave for a full day city sightseeing tour covering Jaganmohana Art Gallery, St. Phenomena’s Church, Rangantittu Bird Sanctuary, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace and Brindavan Garden. In the evening, we take you to Krishna Raja Sagar Dam to witness a spectacular saga of musical fountains and colored lights. Return to the hotel for night stay.
Day 04: Mysore - Ooty
The picturesque hill station of Ooty is the next destination in your travel to South India. Check out from hotel in the morning, transfer to Ooty by road (170 km/5 hrs). Stop midway to visit Bandipur National Park and Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary. Transfer to hotel upon arrival. Later in the evening, proceed for a visit to the serene Ooty Lake and the landscaped Rose Garden. Retire to the hotel for the night.
Day 05: Ooty - Cochin
Explore South India further with a tour to Kerala. Today morning, we check out from the hotel and transfer to the port city of Cochin by road (285 km/7hrs). Stay at the hotel for the night.
Day 06: Cochin
Leave for a post-breakfast city sightseeing tour that includes St. Francis Church, Pierce Leslie Bungalow and Loafer's Corner/Princess Street. Evening return to the hotel and spend the night there.
Day 07: Cochin – Kumarakom
The Tour to South India today proceeds to the backwater town Kumarakom. Check out from hotel in the morning and transfer to Kumarakom by road (75 km/2 hrs). Upon arrival, embark on the houseboat that takes you on a pleasant cruise to the popular backwater destinations of South India tour packages. Meals and overnight stay on board.
Day 08: Kumarakom - Periyar
Disembark from the houseboat in the morning and depart for the world famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary (115 km/3 hrs). Upon arrival, transfer to resort. After lunch, leave for a visit to the serene Periyar Lake on the back of an elephant or on board a boat. Enjoy game viewing along the lake and later in the evening, return to the hotel for night stay.
Day 09: Periyar - Madurai
Enjoy trekking around the sanctuary or a visit to the lush plantations early in the morning. Return to hotel for breakfast and then check out to depart for Madurai (110 km/4.5 hrs), the magnificent temple town of South India tours. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and stay for the night.
Day 10: Madurai
After breakfast, leave for a full-day temple tour of the city including visit to the exquisite Meenakshi Temple, Thirumalai Nayak Mahal, Gandhi Museum and Koodal Azhagar Temple. Evening return to the hotel and spend the night there.
Day 11: Madurai - Tiruchinapally
Tiruchinapally or Trichy is the next stopover in your travel to South India. Check out from hotel post breakfast and transfer to Trichy by road (160 km/4 hrs). Check in to hotel on arrival. Leave for a post lunch city sightseeing tour covering visit to Rock Fort, Tiruvanaikkaval Temple and Srirangam (5 km), the famous pilgrimage site that is largely visited as part of South India tour packages. Evening drive back to the hotel for night stay.
Day 12: Tiruchinapally - Tanjavur - Tiruchinapally
Today we take you on a full day excursion to the famous temple town of Tanjavur (Tanjore). After breakfast, transfer to Tanjore by road (55 km/1 hr). Upon arrival, visit the magnificent Sri Bragadeeswarar Temple and then proceed to the Palace and the Art Gallery nearby. Head back to Trichy in the evening and spend the night at the hotel.
Day 13: Tiruchinapally - Mamallapuram
Today we take you to another famous temple town Mamallapuram in an attempt to explore South India in detail. Check out from hotel after breakfast and transfer to Mamallapuram by road (260 km/6 hrs). Transfer to beach resort on arrival for overnight stay.
Day 14: Mamallapuram
Breakfast at the resort and then full-day sightseeing tour to explore Mahabalipuram. Start with a visit to the nine exquisite Cave Temples hewn from rock and then proceed to see the world's largest Bas-Relief located in the town. Proceed to the famous Five Rathas, Shore Temple and Crocodile Bank. Return to the hotel for the night.
Day 15: Mamallapuram - Chennai
Explore South India Tour ends today. Check out from hotel in the morning and proceed to Chennai (60 km/2 hrs) by road. Upon arrival, transfer to airport to board onward flight/train back home.
